eLynx Printer Utility Problem
This is a very obscure problem, but if you have a printer or copier that does not support PCL out of the box, then when you try to print from software that only supports PCL, the document may disappear, or worse, crash the print spooler.
We discovered this when trying to print from a website using eLynx Printer Utility and a Muratec copier. We thought is was a driver incompatibility issue, but the usual trick of just switching the Muratec over to use an HP driver did not work. That is when we discovered that Muratec copiers (or at least the model we were working on) did not support PCL out of the box - it is an add-on option.

Changing the BIOS battery resets the BIOS and all the settings, so check the BIOS setup for Wake on Lan(WOL) or Wake on Ring(WOR) options and make sure they are turned off.
There is also an option that turns the computer on in case of a power outage, check the BIOS and make sure it is set to stay off if the power goes out. If you are having power problems you should get yourself an Uninteruptible Power Supply (UPS). A UPS is a special power strip that also contains a battery to keep your computer on, for a limited time, in case something happens to the power (brown-outs, surges, and complete failures).
if it seems to be coming on at the same time, every time, it's possible that the computer is set to power on at a particular schedule. The BIOS of some of the newer computers have an Automatic Power Up setting in the BIOS. Make sure that is turned off.
If you happen to be putting your computer in Hibernation and not doing a full and complete shutdown, it is possible that Windows itself is turning on the computer to run a scheduled task. Check to see if you have any scheduled tasks that is waking up your computer by clicking on the Start Button , then Programs or All Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, and finally Scheduled Tasks.
If you're still having problems, please give us a call @ 479-478-3032 when you're at your computer so we can ask some questions about the computer and get some better answers on who made the computer and stuff like that.

If the product is an ATI All-in-Wonder 128 or above, the card will work fully and the drivers, as well as other software, can be found under ATI's customer care pages. Read Full Post
Computer Repair
Computer problems generally can be traced back to one of two sources, hardware or software. At Kirkham Systems we will identify and repair problems, or if it is not cost effective to repair, we will recommend a replacement computer and help you transfer your old data to the new computer for you.
Hardware
Hardware is the electrical and mechanical components that make up your computer. Hardware problems can sometimes be fixed by plugging in a cable that came loose, but often it requires the replacing or repairing of key components such as the hard drive, motherboard, processor, CD ROM drive, memory, or even a keyboard or mouse. We will test a broken computer to identify which components are causing the problems, and if it is costly we will show you other solutions, such as buying another computer and having your data converted to the new one. Even brand new computers can have problems. We can check your warranty to see if damaged parts are covered, if so we can order the parts and have them replaced.
