Fort Smith Could Be Ready To Take the Next Step

Submitted by Shayne on October 19, 2006 - 9:31am.

More and more we speak to business owners in Fort Smith who are asking for web sites that allow them to create a connection with their customers. A web site that encourages communication can give your web site a personal feel. This personal touch is what separates a successful web site from a billboard that people have to drive out of their way to read. That is what most companies web sites have been over the last ten years, an advertisement for your business that someone has to take the time to punch in an address to find, and then spend ten minutes reading boring text that has been the same for the last 10 months.

What allows a company like Youtube to sell for over a billion dollars when they are in the business of giving things out for free? It is the community that it has created online that is so valuable. Millions of people from all over the world going to one place to watch, share, and comment about home videos. How many places can you find 5 million people interacting and communicating with one another in one place?

This is the type of web site more and more businesses in Fort Smith desire. How much more valuable is a web site that has customers communicating with the employees and other customers, than a boring, never changing online billboard?

As a community itself Fort Smith needs to improve the internet link between citizens, business, and government.  This is more and more relevant to major companies that would consider moving to our region.  It is time for Fort Smith to take the next step on the web.
