Get Motorola Mobile Phone Tools Working with Vista
This post was originally on my personal site, but thought everyone here could use it too.
I FINALLY got Motorola Phone Tools to function with Vista. Download the latest drivers from Motorola here. You have to register, but its free. Download the file, unplug the phone, and run the installation (unzip the file, then right click on it, and select Install),
Next, restart Mobile Phone Tools. Vista will nag you about 10 times for each unsigned driver it is installing, but be patient - you will eventually get through the install routine. Finally, plug your phone in - it will be discovered and the correct drivers will be installed. Good luck!
i am in need of motorola v3i driver compatible with vista home premimum installed in my note book compaq presario F572US
You can easily find the driver for the MOTOROLA V3i at http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/nss/usb_drivers_pc_charging_drivers.asp
I'm a little bit disapointed that you have to pay for the motorola handy tool because at the most other handy companies you will get it for free.
Hey chief, this software isn't free. Buy it like you should. It's $10 on ebay, even less if you're lucky.
I had bought a Motorola V3x back in August 2006.
These days the phones still came with a CD, Phone Tools 4.0
But the new Motorolas don't come anymore with PC software ... Motorola is the only company who charges their customers.
Anyway, if you can get this software somewhere, you just have to download the driver software (free) and it works fine under Vista.
Michael
You're wrong - Nokia also charges. The offer the software suite free, but you have to purchase their "special" cord for $39.99 - same thing as buying the software that comes with the connector cord.
this type of the phone is very usefull for the communication, power bill and price. thanks for the good deal up with us.

I need motorola phone phone tools for Windows Vista
Phone Tools DON'T always work with Vista,(that piece-a-shit OS!), 32 bit maybe but 64 bit, forgrt it!!
Once in a while it will work "IF" it recognizes the phone. If you go to Motorola's site and look at the phones Tools is sposed to work with THEN try it, It don't always work!
Mine didn't and it was even on the list,a V95. Started Tools and it said my phone would not work. Go figure
I still cant make agprs connection like i can in xp i did get the phone tools to work before but the probely are better thanks
I have absolutely given up trying to install Motorola Phone Tools (MPT)... It doesn't play nice with my Motorokr Z6m and if anybody else has (which i had) Windows XP Media Center Edition, it just is NOT compatible. (fine print. nice. compatible with home and professional editions only) and it doesn't list Z6m as a supported phone.
So i reluctantly upgrade to Vista home premium. SUPPOSEDLY Motorola phone tools is vista compatible. My hopes were high and my pockets now empty. Vista being a memory pig, I had to buy:
Ram. upgrade from 1G to 2G Ram $110 (Chipset videocard was basic, could't get full video performance so...)
a new video card $200 (which of course conflicted with existing sound card)
a new sound card $150
STILL not getting MPT to install. priceless
Perhaps if you are an I.T. professional you can get it going, but I wouldn't call it user friendly at all.
just getting the installer to load takes several attempts. (program is not responding).

My Work-Around Solution:
I installed the MotoDev driver 3.4.0
>>>connecting the phone to pc is recognized and can explore and sort just like any USB mass storage . drag and drop
>>>I use Window Media Player 11 to sync songs/ringtones/videos.
Thats it.

I'm not IT so don't take this as fact. I BELIEVE media player runs in the vista background. (i went file>exit and the song was still playing, no icons in taskbar)
I was restarting media player in order to get it to recognize the phone. but needed to simply refresh the device.
REFRESH DEVICE
TOOLS > OPTIONS > select DEVICES tab > REFRESH > OK
Your phone will be waiting for sync files where you can browse and sort the files
thats it. no more headache. well at least for the music end of things. still figuring out a way to access phone book and calender without MPT sync.
If you have a working copy of PhoneTools installed on Vista and it is not working with your Z6m, take your SD card out.
Thanks for the tip, finally got my phone tools to work with vista.
I see you said you finally got it to work with??
Well why don't you share what you went through to do that and maybe, JUST MAYBE, others might be able to get theirs working instead of bragging??
Who knows, you might not even have done it!
Thanks for the advice! I don't know why these other people are complaining, the hardest part was signing up to the Motorola Development Network - hehe. It worked a treat.
I'd recommend installing the driver, installing Motorola Phone Tools, & then installing the driver again & choosing the repair option. This worked for me.

i just need smme drivers that work with vista badly
